Bnei Herzliya coach Ariel Beit-Halamy has resigned
Beit-Halamy was absent from Bnei's morning shootaround
Bnei Herzliya coach Ariel Beit-Halamy has resigned today, Tuesday, following the team's 35-point blowout loss to Hapoel Eilat (boxscore), team sources told Sportando.
According to people with knowledge, Beit-Halamy, who was asked to reconsider and resume coaching Israel's No. 10 seed (8-13), was absent from Bnei's morning shootaround.
Beit-Halamy, 47, a two-time Israeli League Coach of the Year, stepped down after failing to qualify for Israel's playoffs.
This Sunday, without its top scorer Romel Beck, who is recovering from a broken hand injury and is sidelined for roughly 3-4 weeks, Bnei hosts Euroleague power Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Recent Maccabi Rishon coach Effi Birnbaum and Israel's Senior Men's National-Team Assistant Eric Alfasi, who attended Bnei's game last week, are both on the market.
UPDATE: Team sources inform that Ariel Beit-Halamy has officially resigned. Former Rishon Assistant Matan Harush is front runner to Take over Bnei Herzliya coaching position.
