Brandon Bowman unauthorised to join Barak Netanya
Israeli basketball regulations do not allow interim hoopers to bounce around the league during the same season unless they were signed over the summer
Former Georgetown graduate Brandon Bowman, who was waived last week by Israel's Galil/Gilboa, was unauthorised to join Israeli league rival Barak Netanya, sources told Sportando.
According to people with knowledge of the Los Angeles native forward's situation, Israeli basketball regulations do not allow interim hoopers to bounce around the league during the same season unless they were signed over the summer.
Since Bowman was a midseason recruit and did not start the 2013-14 season in Israel, rather in South Korea, he was not permitted to sign with another Division I organisation.
League sources informed that Netanya appealed to IBA officials but their prayers were unanswered. Bowman was notified of his fate after successfully passing the team's physical and undergoing several practices Netanya.
