Guy Pnini: 'I'm ashamed of myself and of my actions'

Il giocatore si è scusato del gesto

Israel
Guy Pnini arrived earlier this evening (Monday) in Kfar Shmaryahu, home of Maccabi Tel Aviv share holder and Vice Chairman Shay Recanati to finalize Pnini's disgusting name-callings towards Hapoel Tel Aviv's power forward Jonathan Skjoldebrand.

Maccabi owners David and Danny Federman, and longtime team Chairman Shimon Mizrahi also attended the hearing.

In his defense, Pnini surprisingly explained that Skjoldebrand taunted him verbally and physically throughout the encounter and that his comments were made in the heat of the game, and weren't meant to offend anyone.

Nevertheless, Maccabi officials have decided to remove Pnini of his captaincy until the end of the 2012-13 season. Pnini was also suspended until further notice, won't travel with the team to Poland tomorrow, and will miss Maccabi's Euroleague game against Asseco Prokom. Lastly, Pnini was fined $26,134 which will be contributed to a voluntary organization of his choice.

Pnini: "I want to apologize to Jonathan (Skjoldebrand) and his family, to Maccabi Tel Aviv, sports fans, and to anyone who took offense by what was said. I also wish to express my sincere apologies to my family who are Holocaust survivors. I have disappointed my club, family, friends, fans but most importantly, myself. I'm ashamed of myself and of my actions."
