Maccabi Tel Aviv interested in DJ White, Novica Velickovic
Il Maccabi ha anche esteso il contratto di Ater Majok
Hours after announcing the release of British big man Pops Mensah-Bonsu, and moments into the team's 2012-13 official press conference at Nokia Arena, Maccabi Tel Aviv hits the free agent market. Again.
Whispers in Israeli basketball circles reached Sportando revealing that Maccabi looked into the status of NBA free agent big man D.J. White.
White, 26, and a product of Indiana University, averaged 6.8 points and 3.6 rebounds in 58 games last season for the Charlotte Bobcats.
He split two and a half seasons between the Oklahoma City Thunder and D-League affiliate Tulsa 66ers before moving to the Charlotte Bobcats in February 2011.
Maccabi also came across the name of 6'9" Serbian Novica Velickovic who played the last three seasons in Madrid for local power Real, however, Velickovic isn't currently 100% fit to compete. On October 2011, Velickovic was injured and missed six weeks of action for the Spaniards. Last season, he recorded 4.1 points, 2 rebounds and 1.6 assists in seven Euroleague games; and 6.8 points with 3.3 boards in 30 domestic contests.
In related news, Sportando reports that Maccabi has signed 6'10" Australian Ater Majok to a third 10-day contract.
