Maccabi Tel Aviv giving a serious look to Justin Doellman
Il giocatore ha vestito la maglia del Manresa. Info anche su Halperin, Hettsheimer e Landesberg
Maccabi Tel Aviv woke up yesterday morning to a new reality. One that after two seasons, doesn't include All Euroleague sharpshooter David Blu, who announced his part-time retirement.
That said, David Blatt and the Maccabi's coaching staff are keen on finalizing their roster. Now that Blu is gone, Maccabi looks for a player that can play both in and out of the paint positions.
Former Xavier and until recently ACB's Assignia Manresa's forward Justin Doellman, was scouted and recommended to Maccabi, who are giving the American a serious look, a source with information told Sportando.
Doellman, a 6-foot-9 skilled athlete who recently shot 31.9% from beyond the arc during the ACB season, is also a gifted passer (2 dimes per game), and an aggressive rebounder (4.5 boards per game).
At 27-years of age, Doellman previously played three seasons in France with Cholet Basket, Besancon Basket Comte Doubs and Entente Orleans 45. Last season, he played for Spanish Meridiano Alicante and earned Eurobasket.com's All-Spanish ACB Honorable Mention award.
Doellman's best game this season was in April, during an 83-74 domestic league triumph over UCAMMurica. He dropped 32 points on 12-14 shooting from the field and 8-8 from the free throw line, including 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.
In addition, Spanish CAI Zaragoza's 6-foot-9 center Rafael Hettsheimer, who is already in the process of negotiations with Maccabi, isn't expected to join the team just yet. "There are big financial differences between the two parties," says a source close to Maccabi while adding, "it doesn’t seem like they (Maccabi) can currently afford him".
Maccabi, who's interested in blossoming its Israeli roster, has targeted both Yotam Halperin and Sylven Landesberg.
While Halperin is back in Israel and is rumored to being close to inking to multi year contract with his childhood club, sources close to Landesberg reveal, "Sylven is getting ready to paly summer league with San Antonio Spurs. Maccabi hasn't spoken to us in over two weeks. We're still waiting to hear form them."
