Maccabi Tel Aviv in search for big man: Andersen, Dorsey on the list
Preso Shermadini, il Maccabi potrebbe perdere Hendrix con Big Sofo che sicuramente partirà. Interessa il lungo di Siena con Dorsey anche in lizza
"I don't know if Richard Hendrix will play for Maccabi Tel Aviv next season," said Head Coach David Blatt, who recently signed a two-year extension with the Israeli team.
After reportedly agreeing on terms with Giorgi Shermadini, and knowing that Sofoklis Schortsanitis is not included in next season's picture, extended negotiations with Hendrix are still up in the air as Maccabi's in desperate search of another big man.
One of the player's who's name according to sources with information has received positive feedback from Maccabi's offices is Australian Center David Anderson.
With the global financial crisis hitting the Italian market, local teams have decided to cut down on their budgets for the 2012-13 season. That said, Montepaschi, who's currently undergoing an intense domestic playoff run, might need to rebuild a slightly cheaper roster, without Anderson.
The 7-footer who returned to Europe earlier this season, played the last two years with the NBA's Houston Rockets, Toronto Raptors and New Orleans Hornets. Anderson averaged 11.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game in the Euroleague this season and is posting 14.1 points and 5.3 boards in the Italian Seria A.
As Sportando continues to reveal, another player to intrigue Maccabi's coaching staff is that of Olympiakos' American big man, Joey Dorsey.
The Memphis alumnus who played 61 NBA games with the Rockets, Kings and Raptors, started to 2011-12 season in Spain with Caja Laboral before moving to Greece to join Olympiakos.
However, according to those with knowledge of Dorsey's financial demands, Maccabi won’t be able to afford him.
Sources close to Dorsey denied being contacted by Maccabi .
