Maccabi Tel Aviv lost Doron Perkins for the season

Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv guard Doron Perkins will miss the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury in his team’s Quarterfinal Playoffs Game 3 victory over Caja Laboral on Tuesday. Perkins suffered the injury at the start of the second quarter when he knee seemed to buckle as he drove to the basket. He underwent surgery on Wednesday at Assaf Harofeh Medical Center in Tel Aviv to repair two torn ligaments and damage to his meniscus. Perkins is in his second season with Maccabi. He had started all 19 Euroleague games this season and averaged 9.5 points, a team-best 5.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.7 steals per game.
Dr. Gabriel Agar, the chief surgeon in Perkins's three-hour procedure said after the operation, “The goals of the operation were accomplished, although the injury was severe and Doron will undergo a lengthy recovery. He will remain in the hospital for the next four days after which he will begin intensive physical therapy with [Maccabi’s chief physiotherapist]Rafi Virshuvski. He won’t be able to put any pressure on his leg for six weeks.”
