Maccabi Tel Aviv signs rookie Mikhail Torrance
Il rookie firma un 1+1
Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv stayed as one of the most active teams in this off-season by inking prospect Mikhail Torrance to a one-year deal, the club announced Sunday. Maccabi keeps an option to extend his contract until the end of the 2011-12 season. Torrance (196, 22) just finished his college career at the University of Alabama, so Maccabi will be the first stop as a professional basketball player. He averaged 15.6 points on 86.5% free throws, 3.7 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 32 NCAA games last season, enough to make it to the All-SEC second team. A tall guard with the ability to play in several positions, Torrance becomes the second player that Maccabi signed out of college this summer. Maccabi had previously inked center Jeff Foote out of Cornell University. Torrance played two seasons in Albama with another recently signed player, power forward Richard Hendrix.
