Maccabi captain Derrick Sharp stays
Il capitano prolunga per un'altra stagione
Maccabi Electra captain Derrick Sharp will make it 15 seasons with the Israeli powerhouse after re-signing with the club for the 2010-11 season. Sharp (183, 38) joined the team in 1996 and has won 12 Israeli championships, 10 Israeli Cups, two Euroleague crowns and 1 SuproLeague title with the club. He has also appeared in seven continental Final Fours during his time in yellow and blue. Sharp has amassed 1,153 points and 218 three pointers with Maccabi in the Euroleague. He ranks 12th on the career list of three-pointers made and is fifth with 182 games played. Sharp has scored 1,740 points for Maccabi in European competition, ranking him seventh in the club’s illustrious history. Last season he played a limited role with Maccabi in the Euroleague, but averaged 3.2 points on 37.8% three-point shooting in less than eight minutes per game in the Israeli League.
"Keeping Derrick with the team is one of the easiest decisions I had to take," said head coach David Blatt. "Derrick symbolizes everything we want to see from a Maccabi player - character, ability, stability, winning spirit, continuity, ambition and linkage to the club's tradition and symbol. Derrick first of all thinks about the best of the team and not himself, although he's had a hand in many of the great achievements in the club's history. He's loved by everybody and I'm confident he'll contribute to us a lot this season on and off the court."
