Anthony Fisher signs with Maccabi Haifa

He signed a two-year deal

The Maccabi Hunter Haifa Israeli professional basketball team today announced that they have signed Israeli-American guard Anthony Fisher to a two-year contract through the 2019-20 season. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Fisher, 32, spent the past two seasons playing for Hapoel Beer Sheva in Israel’s second division, where we helped guide his team to the National League finals in both seasons. He appeared in 36 games last season and averaged 10.4 points while shooting 42.4 percent from three-point range to go along with 1.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 25.8 minutes per game. Fisher played an integral role in Hapoel Beer Sheva’s promotion to the first division this past season.

The 6-foot-3 guard has compiled career averages of 15.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 4.1 assists, while shooting nearly 42 percent from 3-point range in 138 games over five seasons in Israel’s second division. He also played one season in the Israel Super League for Ironi Nahariya (2015-16), as well as stints in France, Germany, Poland, and Austria.

“Anthony is an experienced veteran and outstanding shooter, whose proven ability and winning mentality will help Maccabi Haifa return to the Premier League,” said Jeff Rosen, Team Owner, Maccabi Haifa.

“Fisher is an important piece to the puzzle,” said Maccabi Haifa head coach Barak Peleg. “He brings experience and quality play, along with great character. Throughout Anthony’s career, he has played for successful teams.”

A native of Alpharetta, Georgia, Fisher played collegiately at Tennessee Tech (2004-08), where he finished as a top-10 scorer in school history and holds the school record for career Free Throws Made.
