Keron DeShields signs with Maccabi Haifa

The Maccabi Hunter Haifa Israeli professional basketball team today announced that they have signed point guard Keron DeShields to a two-year contract through the 2019-20 season. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

DeShields, 25, played last season in Israel’s second division for Hapoel Afula where he appeared in 8 regular season games, posting averages of 23.8 points per game while shooting 43.2 percent from three-point range to go along with 4.6 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game in 36.8 minutes per game. In April, he signed in Greece’s top league for Rethymno Cretan Kings where registering 9 points, 2 assists and 2.3 steals in 3 games.

The 6-foot-3 point guard appeared in 30 games for Benacquista Assicurazioni Latina Basket in Italy’s second division during the 2016-17 season and averaged 15.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He also played professionally in Hungary’s first division at the start of the 2017-18 season, tallying 17.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game in 4 games for JP-Auto Jaszbereny. He moved to Hungary’s Debreceni Egyetem in January and averaged 11.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.5 steals.

A native of Baltimore, Maryland, DeShields played collegiately at the University of Montana (2011-14) and Tennessee State (2015-16).
