Trevor Gaskins signs with Maccabi Hunter Haifa
The former Louisiana Tech guard has signed with the Israeli team
Free-agent guard Trevor Gaskins has signed a deal with Maccabi Hunter Haifa of the Israeli Winner League for the remainder of the 2017-18 season, the team announced.
Gaskins, 28, participated in the FIBA World Cup qualifiers for the Panama national team, tallying 14 points and 11 assists in an 82-62 win over Paraguay on February 23 in Panama City. He followed up that performance with 19 points and 9 assists in an 86-75 victory over Uruguay on February 26.
A member of the Panama national team since 2014, Gaskins lifted Panama to a Gold Medal in the 2015 COCABA Championship in San Jose, Costa Rica, where he was the tournament’s second-highest scorer (20.8 PPG).
The 6-foot-2 guard helped guide Correcaminos de Colon to a 2017-18 Panamanian league championship, appearing in 15 games while posting averages of 17.2 points, 5.0 assists (fourth in the league), and 3.7 rebounds in 33.2 minutes. He has played professionally in the top divisions in Argentina, Puerto Rico, Colombia, and Panama.
A native of Alpharetta, Georgia, Gaskins played collegiately at Ole Miss alongside current Maccabi Hunter Haifa teammates Reggie Buckner and Zach Graham from 2009-11. Gaskins holds both American and Panamanian citizenship.
