Maccabi Haifa bolster roster with NBA veteran Josh Smith, Samardo Samuels during 3-team NBA tour
Smith and Samuels to join the Greens during the NBA tour as non-roster invitees
Maccabi Hunter Haifa, the 2016-17 Israeli Basketball Super League runner-up, announced today that Josh Smith and Samardo Samuels will join the team during their three-team NBA tour against the Utah Jazz (Oct. 4), Indiana Pacers (Oct. 10) and Portland Trail Blazers (Oct. 13) as non-roster invitees.
Smith, 31, played 12 seasons in the NBA for the Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons, Houston Rockets and LA Clippers, tallying career averages of 14.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 891 games. The 6-foot-9 power forward won the NBA All-Star game Slam Dunk Contest his rookie season.
Samuels, 28, played in the NBA for three seasons for the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2010-13. The 6-foot-9 center has also played for top European teams including FC Barcelona and EA7 Emporio Armani Milano.
