Kevinn Pinkney signs with Maccabi Haifa

The big man joins Israeli league

The Maccabi Hunter Haifa professional basketball team of the Israeli Basketball Super League announced today the team has agreed to terms with forward/center Kevinn Pinkney. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Pinkney, 33, most recently played in the Philippines last February, appearing in 9 games in the Commissioner’s Cup for the Phoenix Fuel Masters while posting impressive averages of 23.4 points, 13.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.4 blocks per game. Prior to the Philippines, he played in Venezuela for Bucaneros de la Guaira in the summer of 2015, where he averaged 9.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.3 steals in 26 games.

The 6-foot-10, 245-pound forward/center brings a wealth of experience to Maccabi Hunter Haifa as he enters his 12th professional season. Pinkney has played in the Euroleague for Union Olimpija Lljubljana in Slovenia where he won the Slovenian Cup in 2011. Early in his career, he appeared in six NBA games for the Boston Celtics during the 2006-07 season.

The seasoned veteran played in Israel during the 2009-10 season for Hapoel Jerusalem where he averaged 9.0 points and 4.4 rebounds in 19 Israeli Premier League games while tallying 9.4 points on 37 percent shooting from downtown along with 3.7 rebounds in 13 Eurocup games. In 2013, he helped lift Trabzonspor to a championship in Turkey’s second division, posting averages of 14.3 points and 6.4 rebounds in seven games. In his decorated career, Pinkney has also played professionally in China (Heilongjiang), France (Clermontois), Italy (AV Cantu and Angelico Biella), Lebanon (Champville), Poland (Bot Turow Zgorzelec), Puerto Rico (Atleticos), Russia (Enisey), Turkey (Aliaga), and the United Arab Emirates (Al Naser).

A native of Colton, California, Pinkney played collegiately at the University of Nevada, Reno from 2001-05. Undrafted in the 2005 NBA Draft, Pinkney averaged a career-high 12.5 points and 7.7 rebounds as a senior for Nevada.
