The Maccabi Hunter Haifa professional basketball team of the Israeli Basketball Super League announced today they have signed shooting guard Karvel Anderson through the 2017-18 season. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Anderson, 25, appeared in 39 contests for Andrea Costa Imola in Italy’s second division and averaged 17.3 points while shooting 39.2 percent (93-237) from three-point range, 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 31 minutes per game. He tallied a season-high 45 points on 14-of-24 shooting from the field (9-of-9 from the line), 5 rebounds and 3 steals in 29 minutes on February 7 against Roseto.

The 6-foot-2 shooting guard played for Imola during the 2014-15 season, posting averages of 13.1 points while shooting 39.0 percent from beyond the arc, 4.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 27.3 minutes per game.

“Karvel’s nickname is ‘the Best-Kept Secret’, but with his talent and personal drive, he won’t be a secret for much longer,” said Maccabi Hunter Haifa team owner Jeff Rosen. “His life story is inspirational, having been homeless during his adolescence, yet he persevered to become the first college graduate in his family, and a heck of a basketball player.”
