Maccabi Haifa name Offer Rahimi head coach
The Maccabi Hunter Haifa professional basketball team of the Israeli Basketball Super League announced today that Offer Rahimi has been named Head Coach for the 2016-17 season
The Maccabi Hunter Haifa professional basketball team of the Israeli Basketball Super League announced today that Offer Rahimi has been named Head Coach for the 2016-17 season. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not released.
“We’re proud to elevate Offer Rahimi, who has one of the longest tenures with our Maccabi Haifa organization, from his role as Assistant Coach to Head Coach,” said Rosen. “Offer has tremendous basketball experience, leadership skills, and an uncanny ability to communicate his winning basketball philosophy to our players and the team.”
Rahimi, 40, served as assistant coach for Maccabi Haifa for six seasons, helping guide Haifa to the franchise’s first championship during the 2012-13 season, along with an Israeli League Finals appearance in 2013-14.
“I’m thrilled and humbled to be named head coach of Maccabi Haifa, and would like to thank team owner Jeff Rosen and vice chairman Arnon Shiran for giving me this opportunity,” said Rahimi. “Having been with the club for six seasons, I’m ready to take the reins of the team, and to continue to build upon our winning tradition.”
Prior to his tenure with Haifa, Rahimi was a head coach for four years in the second division in Israel. He spent three seasons as head coach for Kiryat Tivon (formerly Maccabi Haifa’s farm team) and one season with Kiryat Bialik. Prior to becoming a head coach in the
