Maccabi Haifa signs Oz Blayzer to a contract extension until 2018

He'll stay with the team

The Maccabi Hunter Haifa professional basketball team announced today that they have signed forward Oz Blayzer to a contract extension through the 2017-18 season.

“With the contract extension of Oz, we are solidifying the core of our team for years to come,” said Maccabi Hunter Haifa team owner Jeffrey Rosen. “He sets the right example of how to play the game, both on and off the court. We’re looking forward to Oz continuing in a Green uniform.”

 

 

Blayzer, 22, who was named to the Israeli All-Star team, has appeared in 31 regular season games (22 starts) while posting averages of 8.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.3 steals in 25.3 minutes. Prior to joining Haifa, he played his first two professional seasons in the Israeli Super League with Bnei Herzliya. During the 2014-15 season, he appeared in 33 games (26 starts), posting averages of 9.0 points while shooting 37.9 percent (44-of-116) from three-point land, along with 4.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.1 assists in 24.4 minutes.

The 6-foot-7 forward earned Eurobasket.com All-Israeli League Newcomer of the Year for his impressive rookie season in the Israeli Super League in 2013-14, tallying 7.4 points and 3.9 rebounds in 20.3 minutes over 29 games. He shot 39.3 percent (35-of-89) from beyond the arc.
