Maccabi Haifa signs Gilad Karni
The player signed for remainder of the season
The Maccabi Haifa professional basketball team announced today they have signed swingman Gilad Karni for the remainder of the 2015-16 season. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“After the release of Yiftach Ziv, we looked for an Israeli plyer to complete the roster and we are glad to have Gilad on the team,” said Maccabi Haifa vice chairman Arnon Shiran
Karni, 28, appeared in 26 games last season for Hapoel Gilboa Afula in the Israeli second division, tallying 11.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.8 steals.
The 6-foot-5 swingman has played six years professionally in Israel, including two seasons in the Israeli Super League with Maccabi Ashdod, appearing in a combined 41 regular season games (4 starts), and averaged 2.0 points in 10.1 minutes per game. In the 2011-12 season, Karni was named Eurobasket.com All-Israeli League Newcomer of the Year, reaching the Israeli league Finals as a member of Maccabi Ashdod.
Karni played on the U22 Israeli national team as well as Israeli University national team in 2011. He appeared in 7 games in the World University Games in Shenzhen, China in 2011, posting averages of 7.3 points and 3.1 rebounds while shooting 41.7 percent from beyond the arc
