Szolnoki Olaj signs Wittmann, parts ways with Simon
Only 10 days after winning the new national championship trophy, Szolnoki Olaj started composing the team for the next season. Krisztian Wittmann will replace Balazs Simon at the point guard position
After playing two seasons in ABA League with Szolnoki Olaj, point guard Balazs Simon decided to seek for a new challenge and informed the club that he does not intend to renew his contract that expired at the end of successful season for the Hungarian side.
The 34-year old decided to give more space to prove themselves to the younger guns. „The two years spent with Szolnok were really good for me. This was an amazing experience, especially since I received a chance to play at the higher level, the ABA League, at my age of 32. After having a conversation with the club's management I decided that now it is the time to give a chance to younger players," told Simon.
The club did not wait long to find the replacement for the veteran. The newcomer is Hungarian international Krisztian Wittmann (184-1985), who comes from KTE-Duna Aszfalt, for which he averaged 13.8 points, 3.6 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game in last season of Hungarian Championship.
