Szolnoki Olaj beat Sopron to lift Hungarian Cup
Szolnoki Olaj won the cup again after a year of drought
After failing to get to the top of the podium last season, Szolnoki Olaj won the Hungarian Cup trophy again, for the fifth time in entire history, by beating Sopron on Saturday in the final.
After a dramatic finish of the game, Szolnoki Olaj claimed their cup title for the fifth time in the history, by beating Sopron by only 2 points in the end (70:68), despite leading already by 13 points with 6 minutes to go. Two American players, Willie Warren (15 points) and Justin Holiday (13), played the decisive roles on their team's way towards the top this time.
On their way to the top, the team from Szolnok, had to eliminate Fortress-Jászberény (88:61) in the quarter-finals and KTE-Duna Aszfalt (64:53) in the semi-finals, before downing Sopron in the decisive game. Previously, Szolnok has won the domestic cup winner title in the years 2002, 2007, 2011 and 2012.
