The Dutch League ( FEB ) has announced it will switch to a new playoff format this forthcoming 2014-15 season. Until now, in a 10-team competition, top 8 at the end of the regular season were advancing to the playoofs, but as this season the championship will be made of just 9 teams, the League decided to move to another system, and the FEB chose the Belgian model. The top six teams from the regular season qualify for the playoffs. Top 2 go to the semifinals directly with a by, while the four other clubs will compete in a 'best of three' series for a place in the semifinals in 3v6 and 4v5 pairings.
Semis will see top seeded team facing the winner of 4v5, and second versus 3 or 6 in a best-of-7 series. The Finals will also be in a best-of-7 format.
The Dutch championship will start on October 4, with the regular season's last game on April 20, just 3 days before the post season starts. The Finals have been scheduled for May 19, 21, 23, 26, 28, 30 and 31
