Darryl Watkins moves to Spirou Charleroi

Belgian squad Belgacom Spirou made official on Wednesday the addition of big man Darryl Watkins for the next season. Watkins (2.11 meters, 29 years old) was champion of Bulgaria last season with Lukoil Academic, where he averaged 12.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.3 steals in 6 Eurocup games. He had started the season in the NBA with the Hornets and the 76ers in the summer, but he moved to Bulgaria before the start of the competitions. Watkins played college ball in Syracuse from 2003 to 2007. He played in several NBA and D-League teams over the years until in 2008 he made his debut overseas in China. He has also played in Lebanon, Greece and Cyprus.
