The big man leaves the Russian team
Center Jeff Ayres left CSKA Moscow team upon expiration of his contract term.
2014 NBA champion joined our team in September helping to fill the void in the frontline caused by multiple injuries. Ayres played in 7 games (3 starts), averaging 5.4 points (47% of two-pointers, 92% of free throws), 3.6 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 0.7 blocked shots in 9.5 minutes. Jeff was one of the heroes in recent Euroleague game vs Zalgiris where he recorded PIR of 26 in just 13 minutes on the floor.
Andrey Vatutin, CSKA President:
All of us had great pleasure to work with Jeff. He is an excellent player and unbelievably positive person. He signed short-term contract but demonstrated amazing work ethic and desire to learn the details of our game, specifics of European basketball, he became a friend for many guys on our team. I am sure that Jeff will not stay away from basketball for too long, I sincerely wish him good luck in his career.
Jeff Ayres:
Thank you very much to CSKA management and coaching staff for the opportunity to be a part of the history of your club. I had a great time and learned a lot. Look forward to see you guys again in the future!
