Four Russian teams have decided to play in Eurocup but Andrei Kirilenko, President of Russian basketball federation, reacted immediately with a strong statement. Kirilenko said that Nizhny, Khimki, Zenit and Lokomotiv Kuban will be all disqualifed from competitions held by Russian federation:
"Khimki, Lokomotiv, Zenit and Nizhny Novgorod will be disqualified from all competions held under Russian Basketball Federation. All transfers from and to these clubs will be prohibited. It's a sad fact, but we will apply those measures."
Kirilenko also admitted that all Russian players of the four teams will be prohibited to play in NT. VTB League is not organized by the Russian Federation so the teams will continue to play in the league.
