Alexey Shved named VTB's Top Russian Player
He received the award
Khimki guard Alexey Shved has been named the 2015-16 VTB United League's top Russian player. He received his award in Khimki prior to Game 3 of the playoff semifinals between Khimki and CSKA. VTB United League deputy general director Ilona Korstin presented Shved with his award.
This is the 4th year that the VTB United League has honored the top players in each country represented by League clubs. In the seven countries with one club (Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Finland and Georgia), the league awards the prize. In Russia, which has nine clubs, information agency TASS partners with the league to name the top Russian player.
Alexey Shved earns the honor for the first time (CSKA's Andrey Vorontsevich was honored last season, Nizhny Novgorod's Semen Antonov won in 2013-14 and CSKA's Viktor Khryapa took home the prize in 2012-13). Shved beat out Nizhny Novgorod guard Dmitry Khvostov and CSKA forward Andrey Vorontsevich.
Shved played in 29 games for Khimki during the regular season, averaging 16.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists and a 16.7 efficiency rating.
