Gal Mekel is close to penning a deal with Nizhny Novgorod.
The Israeli point guard will ink a contract with an NBA out.
Mekel was drawing interest from Milano, Maccabi and Hapoel but he decided to sign in the Russian team, one of the biggest surprises of the last two seasons in Europe.
