VTB United League officially joins ULEB

The VTB United League has received official ULEB recognition (Union of European Leagues of Basketball) and become a member. ULEB's General Assembly reached the decision unanimously today in Barcelona.

ULEB, which founded the Euroleague and Eurocup, was established in 1991. 14 European leagues (Spain, Italy, France, Greece, Germany, Israel, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Great Britain, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Poland), as well as the Adriatic League and VTB United League, are members.

- We're very happy that our work in this direction, which continued for almost a year, concluded successfully, - said VTB United League general director Andrey Shirokov in an interview with VTB-League.com. - The VTB United League has earned the right to become a member of such a well-respected and well-represented organization in ULEB. We'll try to correspond to this new status. By the way, there are several international meetings this week. The Euroleague Shareholders Meeting, to which we're also invited, will be held here in Barcelona tomorrow. Then on Thursday, the VTB United League and Euroleague offices will meet.
