Krasny Oktyabr to join VTB United League for 2013/14 season
The Russian team will join VTB United League
Russian club Krasny Oktyabr from Volgograd has received the VTB United League wild card and will compete in the upcoming 2013/14 season. VTB United League president Sergey Ivanov made the decision.
After receiving applications for the VTB United League wild card, each candidate club was asked to provide documents, confirming their ability to conform to League Regulations.
The Volgograd club provided a guarantee from Alfa Bank for a budget of 320 million rubles, as well as a guarantee from the regional government to create the necessary basketball infrastructure. More specifically, ensuring that the current arena conforms to League Regulations and completing construction of a new arena with a minimum capacity of 5,000 spectators by January 1, 2014. In addition, a letter of guarantee from VGTRK-Volgograd television station stated that all of the club’s home games would be broadcast in accordance with the VTB United League’s technical requirements.
After receiving all of these documents, VTB United League President Sergey B. Ivanov decided to present the wild card to Krasny Oktyabr.
