The Spanish League ACB held its Assembly in Barcelona yesterday with the matter of the European club competitions on the agenda. The League issued an official note after the meeting with the following text in relation to said subject:

" The President of the ACB reported the clubs on the projects of international competitions presented by both FIBA and Euroleague, exposing the result of negotiations with the ACB and other European Leagues. After extensive discussion, the clubs have decided to accept the proposal of the Euroleague, embodied in the following terms:

- Replacing the qualyfication round of the Euroleague by an agreement where the best club in standings without an A license will be granted direct access to the competition. For the ACB, this fourth slot would apply starting in the 2017-18 season.

- Three direct slots in the Eurocup for the next best ranked clubs ( according to sporting merit ). For next season, ( 2016-17 ), in case that no more than 3 ACB clubs play the Euroleague, there will be 4 in the Eurocup.

- The Euroleague shall ensure that the Eurocup champion will participate in next season's Euroleague in all cases.

- Agreement of 4 years, until the end of the 2019-20 season, ensuring the presence of ACB clubs in both competitions in the terms agreed with the Euroleague.

However, the Assembly supports the free participation of other Spanish clubs in the competition run by FIBA ( Champions League ) ".
