Sharaud Curry is Eurochallenge Last 16 Week 5 Top Performer

The player of Kotka is the best player of the week

FIBA Europe Cup

Sharaud Curry of Team TEHO Sport Kotka registered an efficiency index rating of 26 on Tuesday and is the Top Statistical Performer of Week 5 in the Last 16 of the EuroChallenge.

The 26-year-old diminutive point guard poured in a game-high 21 points on 8-of-14 from the floor, dished out a game-high eight assists and added six rebounds and two steals to pave the way for Kotka's 82-79 win over Bakken Bears Aarhus in Group L.

The Finnish side heard prior to tip-off of Ural Ekaterinburg's win over Tsmoki Minsk in the other game in the group and consequently knew that they had no chance of advancing to the quarter-final play-offs.

That did not however influence Kotka's performance, largely because Curry set the tone from the start, accumulating 14 points in the first half, and the hosts raced to a 16-point lead midway through the third quarter, before Bakken's late fightback made for a dramatic finale.

Curry, who has scored in double digits in every EuroChallenge game this season, leads the competition in scoring with 20.1 points per game and is the third-leading player in assists, averaging 6.7 per game.

"It has been a great experience to play EuroChallenge and I'm very proud of my team," he said after the game.

Two other players who have consistently delivered the goods for their teams share second spot on the table of the Top Statistical Performers this week.

Dejan Borovnjak of Royal Hali Gaziantep and Sani Becirovic of Krka Novo Mesto both registered an efficiency index rating of 25 on Tuesday.
