Olimpia Milano keeps Dairis Bertans

The Latvian remains in Milano

Pallacanestro Olimpia Milan and Dairis Bertans agreed on terms for the next basketball season too.

Born in 1989, on September 9, in Valmiera, Latvia, Bertans began to play in his native town before moving to ASK Riga in 2006 (in 2009 he helped the team winning the Latvian championship). He stayed in Riga until 2009, then he played for Ventspils and moved to VEF Riga in 2010. With VEF he won three consecutive Latvian titles before transferring abroad for the first time in 2013 to play for Bilbao (in 2015/16, he averaged 15.5 points per game during the Eurocup competition making 48.5% of his threes), and eventually in Darussafaka Istanbul making his EuroLeague debut. He has a career-high of 29 against Baskonia Vitoria. During his first season in Milan he helped Olimpia to win the Supercup. In the semifinal game against Trento he scored 11 points going perfect from the field (4/4, 3/3 on threes). He scored the winning basket in Barcelona with 5 seconds left with a mid-range jumper. He has compiled a streak of 16 EuroLeague games with at least a three made. He was a key member of the Italian league winning team. During the playoffs he led the league in three-point shooting converting 55.3 percent of his attempts.
