EuroLeague Round 3 MVP: Luka Doncic, Real Madrid

Teenage superstar Luka Doncic is making sure that his injury-depleted Real Madrid does not miss a beat. Doncic unfurled the best performance of his young career to help Madrid stay unbeaten by downing visiting AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan 100-90 on Tuesday, and in the process earned himself the MVP of Round 3 honor. Doncic set his career high with a performance index rating of 41, which is tied for second-most by any Real Madrid player this century! He also matching his career high of 27 points, which he first set on the opening night less than two weeks ago. Doncic scored 12 points during a 20-0 third-quarter run that gave Madrid the lead for good. He finished the game shooting 5 of 9 for two points, 2 for 5 from three-point distance, and 11 of 12 from the free throw line. He also pulled down 8 rebounds, dished 5 assists, had 3 steals and drew 10 personal fouls while not committing a single one of his own. This is the fifth time in his young career that Doncic has been MVP of the round. The second-best outing of Round 3 belonged to Sergio Rodriguez of CSKA Moscow, who accumulated a performance index rating of 29. For Milan's center Arturas Gudaitis, not only was that the highest PIR of his EuroLeague career, but so were his 20 points, perfect 9-for-9 two-point shooting, and 4 blocked shots. Gudaitis also pulled down 7 rebounds in his team's loss in Madrid. In matching that index rating of 28, James Anderson of Khimki Moscow Region collected 24 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and drew 5 fouls in his team's victory over visiting Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade.
