Euroleague Round 2 MVP: Erick Green, Valencia Basket

In Valencia Basket's first Turkish Airlines EuroLeague home game in four seasons, Erick Green did his best to help his new team get an all-important win, and in the process set a personal and a club all-time mark to earned his first-ever EuroLeague MVP of the Round award. In Valencia's 78-71 victory over Anadolu Efes Istanbul, Green had 24 points on 5-of-7 two-point shooting and 3-for-5 from long range. Green also collected 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 5 drawn fouls and accumulated a performance index rating of 33. That's not only the highest index rating of his EuroLeague career, but Green also broke a club EuroLeague record for the highest single-game performance index rating by a Valencia player in the competition. Green's performance index rating was the highest among players on winning teams in Round 2, and second only to Paulius Jankunas, who accumulated PIR of 36 in his Zalgiris Kaunas road loss against Khimki Moscow Region. Jankunas scored 24 points, hitting 5 of 10 two-point shots, and making a career-best and club record 14 of 14 free throws. Jankunas also added 8 rebounds, 3 assist, 1 steal and 10 fouls drawn in his team’s 85-77 losing effort against Khimki Moscow Region. In the same game, Khimki’s Thomas Robinson had the third best index rating of Round 2. Robinson had 19 points, 10 rebounds, 4 blocks and 2 assists in compiling an index rating of 28 in his only second EuroLeague game. Three players had an index rating of 27 to round out week's best performances: Kostas Sloukas of the reigning champion Fenerbahce Dogus Istanbul posted 17 points, 9 assists and 3 rebounds in overtime win over AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan; Taylor Rochestie of Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade collected 22 points, 7 assists and 3 rebounds in 90-82 win over FC Barcelona Lassa; and also Efes big man Vladimir Stimac had a career-best 22 points plus 6 rebounds, and 4 assists in a loss against Valencia.
