EuroLeague club owners discuss five-year strategic plan

A group of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague club owners and representatives met with Euroleague Basketball executives in Chantilly, France early this week to share their ideas on the future and set the pillars for the organization's strategy moving forward.
The two-day meeting gathered club and league executives to plan for a new five-year cycle, following the recent completion of the strategic plan set forth in 2011, whose key objective – the creation of a true, round-robin league in which all the best teams play each other – was met in October 2016.
The meeting focused on how to continue the massive growth in the EuroLeague's audience and to maximise revenues for the clubs. The starting point was to identify clear objectives to improve the EuroLeague's positioning, to deliver increase in all areas of the business, growing the value of the league and therefore its clubs.
The attendees also heard from guest speaker Glenn Chin, Founder & CEO at Most Prolific, who explained the keys for success in a collective management framework and the importance of agility and resilience in a constantly changing sports and entertainment environment. Mr. Chin shared his long experience in the sports industry, where he has worked at world-class brands like Nike and Electronic Arts and currently collaborates with several major sports properties.
Numerous proposals for discussion were presented by Euroleague Basketball executives including: aggregating club and league digital platforms, including data management systems; strengthening the association between the brands of the clubs and the league; reaching the consumers of tomorrow as a strategic commercial and marketing plan priority; bolstering the business area staff structures in clubs; improving arena management and game-day revenues; providing additional central support for clubs to further grow their business operations; identifying future league expansion opportunities; strengthening and regulating relationships with the league's principal stakeholders, namely players, coaches and referees; further investing in initiatives that attract young fans to engage with the league and its clubs through participation.
The meeting ended with attendees sharing the conclusions of the two-day working session that will guide the league's evolution over the coming years.
