Euroleague Basketball received the Silver Award for Best Sports Governing Body Initiative at Sports Business Awards 2017 on Friday in London, England. The event, which took place at The Brewery building in central London, saw some 400 representatives of 70 leading companies and organizations that were shortlisted for the 15 award categories from hundreds of applicants. BBC journalist Dan Walker presented the winners with their prizes.
The panel of 40 judges selected Euroleague Basketball to receive the silver award for launching the "first ever true league in European professional sports." It considered the revamped league to be an innovative and unique case to deliver greater value to all stakeholders and greater quality to its fans, boosting interest, audience and revenues.
