Besiktas president Orman calls EuroLeague an organization of thieves

Besiktas president Fikret Orman had tough words against EuroLeague.
Besiktas ended the Turkish regular season in second position but it won’t be able to join the EuroLeague because the teams are already set.

“I am against EuroLeague. Franky speaking, I consider it an organization of thieves. I am against sending our teams to the EuroLeague” Orman said, as reported by El Mundo Deportivo. “There is a Spanish company that created a joint-venture called EuroLeague. They give a small amount of shares to the clubs. Who is the majority sharholder? The Spanish company. Is it a federation? No, it is just a company. They have Turkish sponsors, up to nine different. They say “If you invest money, we can let you play this year (as happened to Dogus with Darussafaka). And next year, more money please. Who owns the television rights? This company. Who receives money from the sponsors? This company. And who pays for the travels and other expenses? The clubs pay it. It is not an organization like football Champions League or Europa League. There is no income from outside. And who takes all the money? The Spanish company” Orman said. “ The championship of Fenerbahçe is of course very valuable, but as a club you are completely in financial loss. I'm against it. Even if we are champions, I will not send our team to this Cup.”
