Euroleague Basketball extends partnership with Odeabank, Turkey's 'Bank of Basketball'

Euroleague Basketball and Odeabank are taking their strong relationship higher and farther

Euroleague Basketball and Odeabank are taking their strong relationship higher and farther with the announcement Wednesday of an extended partnership agreement to be marked by the launch of a unique charity initiative this week.

The new agreement calls for Odeabank to maintain its regional partnership with Euroleague Basketball during the entirety of the 2017-18 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and 7DAYS EuroCup seasons, culminating in its role as a global partner for the 2018 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four in Belgrade, Serbia.

The partnership renewal was celebrated with a signing ceremony on Wednesday between Mr. Jordi Bertomeu, Euroleague Basketball's President & CEO, and Mr. Huseyin Ozkaya, CEO of Odeabank at the latter's headquarters in Istanbul.

With more than 1,500 employees, Odeabank, a subsidiary of the Lebanon-based Bank Audi, is the youngest of the top 10 private banks in the highly competitive Turkish banking sector. It became a Euroleague Basketball partner last summer after the Istanbul club it also sponsors, Galatasaray Odeabank, made history as the first Turkish champion of the 7DAYS EuroCup and won a place in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague this season. As such, Odeabank has positioned itself as the "Bank of Basketball" in the region in order to identify with the excitement and values of a sport whose popularity is higher than ever in Turkey.

Those shared values are evident as the partnership renewal tips off with novel philanthropic touch during this year's 2017 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four, taking place all this weekend in the bank's home city, Istanbul.

For every single three-point shot made by all teams at the Final Four, Odeabank will donate €333 to be spent on the refurbishment of a public basketball court in Istanbul. That refurbishment will take place in Küçükçekmece, a city neighborhood to the near west of the Sinan Erdem Dome, where all the Final Four games will be played on Friday, May 19 and Sunday, May 21. Last season, the Final Four teams set this century's record for three-pointers at the event with 80 made among them.

"Renewing this agreement with Odeabank, a true supporter of our sport, is gratifying for at least two reasons," Jordi Bertomeu Euroleague Basketball's President & CEO, said. "One, it shows that Turkey's 'Bank of Basketball' has seen the visibility of our shared values served well during this first season together. And two, those benefits to Odeabank clearly reach beyond Turkey's borders as it plans to be with us as a global partner at next season's Final Four in Belgrade."

"We are very pleased to sponsor the EuroLeague, the top European basketball competition, for the second year" Huseyin Ozkaya, CEO of Odeabank said. "As a dynamic and rapidly growing bank in Turkey, and as the 'Bank of Basketball', we believe that this partnership makes an excellent contribution to our brand value while giving us the opportunity to display our commitment to basketball and to Turkey."
