EuroLeague CEO Bertomeu: In the mid-term we have to think about an expansion to 18 and then 20 teams
Bertomeu unveils the future plans of the EuroLeague
EuroLeague CEO Jordi Bertomeu, interviewed by Zalgiris Kaunas TV, said that the goal of the competition, in the mid term, is to increase the number of clubs from 16 to 18 and then 20.
“In the short term we will remain with 16 clubs. We believe that the number of teams should be increased because we need more markets in the league. I think that in the mid term we have to think about an expansion of the league probably to 18 teams and then to 20 teams. This is going to be our next challenge for the mid term” Bertomeu said.
EuroLeague might have 18 teams from the 2018-2019 season.
