EuroLeague Regular Season Round 3 MVP: Nando De Colo, CSKA Moscow

The reigning Turkish Airlines EuroLeague MVP is up to his old tricks again. CSKA Moscow’s superstar guard Nando De Colo needed just three games to capture his first title for the 2016-17 season; De Colo became the MVP for Round 3 of the regular season after leading CSKA Moscow to an 87-93 road win at Anadolu Efes Istanbul. De Colo scored 26 points on 7-of-12 two-point shooting and 12 of 13 free throws. He also dished 6 assists, grabbed 4 rebounds, had a block and drew 11 fouls for a performance index rating of 32, which was the most of all players in Round 3. Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade guard Marko Guduric was second on the Round 3 chart after his big game in a 76-65 win over FC Barcelona Lassa. Guduric had a career-high 21 points, along with 5 assists and 2 steals for a career-best performance index rating of 30. Nick Calathes of Panathiniakos Athens had rating of 29 after flirting with a triple-double and finishing with 13 points, 11 rebounds, 9 assists and 3 steals in a come-from-behind 83-84 road win against Brose Bamberg. Round out Round 3’s best were Unics Kazan center Art Parakhouski and Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz big man Johannes Voigtmann. Parakhouski collected 17 points, 7 rebounds and a career-high 4 blocks for in index rating of 27 in an 87-94 home loss to Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul. Voigtmann collected 18 points, 11 rebounds and an index of 26 in a dramatic 87-91 road win over Real Madrid.

Individual leaders: Charles Jenkins of Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade, 5 steals

De Colo led all scorers in Round 3 with 26 points, and the reigning MVP and Alphonso Ford Top Scorer Trophy winner has taken over the lead as this season’s top scorer, too, with an average of 22.7 per night. Madrid’s Anthony Randolph pulled down 13 rebounds, the most in Round 3. Latavious Williams of Unics and Khem Birch of Olympiacos Piraeus share the rebounding lead with 8 per game through three games. Kostas Sloukas of Fenerbahce Istanbul dished a career-high 11 assists to lead all players in Round 3. CSKA Moscow’s All-EuroLeague guard Milos Teodosic is this season’s assists leader with 9.3 per contest after 3 games. Charles Jenkins of Crvena Zvezda had a career- high 5 steals in the victory over Barcelona. Jenkins now leads the league with an average of 2.7 steals per game. Parakhouski was league’s best shot-blocker of Round 3 with 4 blocks. Alex Tyus of Galatasaray Odeabank Istanbul is the competition’s leading blocker with 2 blocks per game. There were three double-doubles in Round 3, Victor Claver of Barcelona with 12 points and 10 rebounds, Calathes and Voigtmann.
