Playoffs Game 4 MVP: Anthony Randolph, Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar

There was only one Game 4 played in this season’s Turkish Airlines Euroleague Playoffs and there was little question who its MVP was. Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar big man Anthony Randolph played well for the first 40 minutes, but simply dominated the overtime period to lead his team to an 80-92 road win at FC Barcelona Lassa. Randolph singlehandedly outscored the home team in the extra session, when he posted 10 points and 1 assist to account for 13 of his team’s 16 points. He totaled a season-high 28 points on 8-of-13 two-point and 3-of-4 three-point shooting plus 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block in recording a performance index rating of 28 and earning weekly MVP honors for the second time this season. Ante Tomic had the most productive game for the home team with 18 points, 6 rebounds and an index rating of 25. Victor Claver had his best playoff game yet for Lokomotiv with 17 points, 10 rebounds and an index rating of 24. Two other players posted index ratings of 20: Malcolm Delaney of Lokomotiv, who tallied 15 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists, and scoring king Juan Carlos Navarro of Barcelona, who scored 19 points, dished 4 assists and claimed 2 steals.

Individual leaders: Victor Claver notches a double-double

Randolph was not only Game 4’s MVP, but also its top scorer with 28 points. His playoff average of 19.5 points per game is second only to Final Four-bound Darius Adams of Laboral Kutxa Vitoria Gasteiz, who posted 22.7 points in his team’s three-game sweep of Panathinaikos Athens. Claver’s 10 rebounds were game high as well as its only double-double. Real Madrid center Gustavo Ayon led all playoff participants in rebounding with 8 per game. Delaney was Game 4’s top assist man with 7, while teammates Dontaye Draper and Ryan Broekhoff tied Navarro for the most steals, 2. Barcelona forward Stratos Perperoglou was the week’s leader with 2 blocks. Nick Calathes of Panathinaikos averaged 6.7 assists per game in the playoffs to top the charts and was one of four players – joining Davis Bertans of Laboral Kutxa and Tarence Kinsey and Quincy Miller of Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade – to tie for the steals lead with 1.7 per game. Fenerbahce Istanbul’s Ekpe Udoh’s 2 blocks per game made him the playoff leader in that category.
