Lamonica: Diamantidis deserves to be among the Euroleague legends. He's a special person

Italian referee Luigi Lamonica praised Dimitris Diamantidis after his final Euroleague game.
Lamonica officiated Game 3 between Panathinaikos and Baskonia, Diamantidis’ final game in Euroleague.

After the game the official spoke with SDNA: “Diamantidis is a special person. He is an example that is very hard to find on court. He fights for his team and does the right thing. Obviously, sometimes we had different opinions, but that is normal. But I appreciate the fact that he played with his heart, that is the most important thing”.

Lamonica was hugged by Diamantidis after the match: I did not expect the hug. I went to thank him, because he did something special for basketball. It is really nice to have this kind of players on court. Many kids will star playing basketball, watching players like him. It is very important for our sport. He deserves to be among the Euroleague legends”.
