EuroLeague
The Euroleague fans that are in Madrid had the chance to enjoy the show of Golden Power just before Vassilis Spanoulis’ one in the first semi-final of the Final Four, Olympiacos – CSKA Moscow.

The artists from Hungary performed during the break of the game between the Greeks and the Russians but that was not all for them in the competition as they have got their own opinion about Friday’s results and the upcoming final’s.

Sándor Olah, one of the two members of the group, spoke with Sportando about his art with his partner, Gyula Takacs, and how their performance is connected with basketball and sports generally.

How did you get the proposal to perform in Madrid's Final Four?

“We received the proposition through an agency”.

Can you describe us your art?

“Our art is coming from a history act, The Living Statues .This kind of art exists many years. I started to be an artist in 1996 with a nice group called Golden Pyramid. We worked together in the period 1996-1999 and after that, I created the Golden-Power. Gold acts exist, as my ex - partner remembers, from 1960”.

Has your art a connection with basketball from any aspect?

“Our Performance doesn't have a connection with Basketball I suppose”.

However, you display strength and Balance. Don't you think that these elements are important in every sport including basketball of course?

“I think those two things are important in many sports as well. In our act we don't have any jump or tempo. We do everything slow and fluid like water. We fight against the gravitation”.

Why are you painted in gold? What does this symbolize for you? Maybe the gold medal that goes to the winner?

“As I mentioned before, I started this kind of act with the Golden Pyramid. We were in gold and I kept this style. Now, as everything is more modern, we perform with all kinds of colors, with logos on our bodies from different companies and with different kinds of music as well. We are flexible in any kind of request”.

Your statues come to life. What do you want to say with this performance?

“The one that sees our performance live, understands it all. It's an art. It isn’t easy. We have almost the same weight. I'm 72 kg and my partner is 75 kg. So, many sportsmen respect us regarding this fact because they can understand how difficult it is for us to lift up each other”.

What are the themes of art that you deal with as performers?

“We can handle all kinds of art which want to say something. Which show some difference from the normal life. When you see us in public and you feel chills on your arms, all of us who work as artists we are happy because we know we have arrived to the point we want”.

Olympiacos took the win against CSKA Moscow in the game, during which, you performed. Did you have the chance to watch the match?

“It was a hard game but finally Olympiacos got the win against CSKA Moscow. Respect to everyone in this team”.

“Do you have a preference or a premonition of the team that will lift the trophy?”

I think that since the last game is in Madrid, Real Madrid has got a big pressure. They will try to do everything to win. For all of that, I suppose the trophy will stay in Spain.

“You are from Hungary. There, basketball is not in a high level but do you follow it? Maybe you are a supporter of a hungarian basketball team?”

“No. It was the first time we watched Basketball so closely but I can say for both of us was a surprise how different is the game in Spain and in my country. We liked so much the atmosphere and I think that from now on we will follow the basketball teams because
we do like them!”
