The Euroleague Basketball Institute Annual Workshops continued into their second week with more clubs than ever before taking part in a two-day session of the Euroleague Basketball Ticketing Programme in Barcelona.
A total of 11 clubs from the Turkish Airlines Euroleague have signed up to participate in the ticketing programme throughout the upcoming 2014-15 season to work on increasing their arena attendance and ticketing revenues.
The high participation rate comes despite attendance in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague having reached a pair of records last season: more than 2 million fans total having seen Turkish Airlines Euroleague teams live and 8,500 fans present on average at all 253 games.
"The fact that attendance is breaking records and so many teams are willing to do more to keep that trend going is a great sign," Roser Queralto, Chief Business Development Officer for Euroleague Basketball, said. "The ticketing program has certainly had a strong positive effect on the upswing in attendance, which is why we have enhanced the programme to help repeat subscribers keep progressing."
New clubs to the programme got the week going with an eight-hour session on Monday under the direction of Euroleague Basketball consultant Marshall Glickman of G2 Strategic, who dedicated the day to teaching them the ticketing fundamentals formulated over the previous years of Euroleague Basketball research, instruction and training on the subject.
"These sessions are great to hear experiences from other clubs and great speakers, to learn some new practices that we can adapt to our structure back home and drive our product's value up," Arsen Solic, Director of Marketing for Cedevita Zagreb, said. "I would like to build value and compete in our industry, which is entertainment, not just sports."
Clubs that have re-subscribed to the programme arrived for a full day's worth of meetings on Tuesday to add to what they have learned to date.
"We have been following the ticketing program for the last three seasons, and it helped our club to put a focus on this particular and important part of our business," Flavio Portaluppi, general manager of EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, said. "It's something we had never done before in our history, to share our ideas, our opinion together with the Euroleague and also to get other experiences and opinions from other teams and obviously, also from the Euroleague organization with Mr. Glickman and Mr. Scafati. Together, we can share what we think is working better and what is not working, thinking also about the specific town and country where we live."
The clubs enrolled for the 2014-15 season include: Anadolu Efes Istanbul, CSKA Moscow, FC Barcelona, Unicaja Malaga, BC Khimki Moscow Region, Cedevita Zagreb, CEZ Basketball Nymburk, EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul, Nizhniy Novgorod and Olympiacos Piraeus.
