Euroleague Top 16, Round 8: Sportando Team of the Week

Ante Tomic the MVP of the week

EuroLeague

MVP - Ante Tomic (FC Barcelona)

In the huge OT win in Istanbul (89-84) is too easy for Tomic, right now probably the best big man in Europe, to dominate against Anadolu Efes, outrebounding all of the opposing big men and killing them with his soft touch on pick and roll or low post plays, despite being often double-teamed or even triple-teamed. He's on the bench when Efes is able to comeback in the third quarter and has too little touches on offense in the fourth, but he scores a pivotal shot in the last minute of regulation and dominates the overtime, scoring 7 points in a row to ice the game. He has 26 PTS on an 11/16 shooting, 15 RBS, 7 FD, 40 EV and an incredible +21 plus/minus.

Bo McCalebb (Fenerbahçe)

Thanks to his astonishing quickness McCalebb has a pivotal role in the home win against Olympiacos (78-74). Playing often off the ball as previously seen in this season, he tears apart Olympiacos' defense, driving crazy Sloukas and Collins and getting to the basket with ridiculous ease. He finishes with 20 PTS on a 5/6 shooting from the field and a 10/12 from the free throw line, 8 FD and 28 EV, also sinking a clutch shot with a pull-up jumper which gives to his team a 4-point lead with 20 seconds on the clock.

Juan Carlos Navarro (FC Barcelona)

Navarro has a relatively quiet game in Istanbul, doing a great job in moving the ball, running the pick and roll and setting his teammates up for a shot as he struggles to find the basket. But with 1.40 on the clock and his team down by 7, he cuts the lead to 3 with a floater and an assist to Tomic in back-to-back possessions, and since then he scores 9 of his 17 points. In the game he has 17 PTS, 11 AST and only 1 TO, 7 FD and 28 EV.

Bryce Taylor (FC Bayern Munich)

A key defensive player for Bayern Munich, in the home win against Zalgiris Kaunas (79-73) Taylor steps up also on the offensive end: he heats up in the fourth quarter, scoring 11 of his 22 points, including 5 in a row that give to his team the crucial lead. He has 22 PTS on a perfect 3/3 shooting from long range and 20 EV.

Derrick Brown (Lokomotiv Kuban)

Despite a tight loss in Moscow (93-94) Lokomotiv Kuban plays a good game and a really tough one. Brown's quickness and athleticism are unmatchable at the 4, as he's rather unstoppable in driving to the basket and running in transition. He's also a constant threat in passing lanes on the defensive end, and despite missing a couple of easy shots in transition he sinks a powerful dunk that gives to his team a 1-point lead with less than 10 seconds on the clock. He finishes with 23 PTS on a 10/14 shooting, 5 RBS, 3 STL and 29 EV.
