Euroleague Top 16, Round 2: Sportando Team of the Week

Huertas the MVP

EuroLeague

MVP - Marcelinho Huertas (FC Barcelona)The Spanish team grabs a huge road win against Fenerbahçe (76-73), and that's mainly because of Huertas, who easily runs the pick and roll and dominates the fourth quarter. He scores 14 of his 23 points in the last five minutes of play, including a pivotal open three which gives to his team a 4-point lead with 1.30 on the clock, and four clutch free throws in the last seconds. He has 23 PTS, 7 AST, 4 STL, 6 FD and 30 EV.

Dimitris Diamantidis (Panathinaikos)12 PTS, 9 AST, 8 FD, 22 EV. Panathinaikos is able to win in Vitoria (72-64), also thanks to a really poor effort from Laboral Kutxa in the fourth quarter. Diamantidis is really effective out of the pick and roll and gives plenty of open looks to his teammates, particularly assisting half of Lasme's 20 points. He also scores a couple of pivotal shots in the fourth quarter, especially the really tough ISO triple that gives to Panathinaikos the crucial 9-point lead with 3.40 on the clock.

Keith Langford (EA7 Milan)Milan shocks Olympiacos with a 30-point blowout (81-51), their first Euroleague loss in this season. Such an incredible win starts from a huge defensive and rebounding effort, but Langford is unguardable on the offensive end: he makes any kind of shot off the pick and roll or in isolation, he draws contacts and can hit from long range, mid range or at the rim, driving crazy both Mantzaris and Sloukas. He has 24 points with 5/5 from beyond the arc at the end of the third quarter, and finishes with 29 PTS, 9 FD and 29 EV.

Deon Thompson (FC Bayern Munich)He struggles a bit in shooting, but his defensive effort and rebounding presence are highly important in the home victory against Partizan Belgrade (71-65). He also makes a couple of pivotal plays in the last minutes, scoring in the paint and blocking a Gagic's shot. He finishes with 15 PTS, 10 RBS (5 on the offensive end) and 19 EV.

Sofoklis Schortsanitis (Maccabi Tel Aviv)He has some quick foul troubles, which force him to sit lately in the fourth quarter, but Schortsanitis has a major impact in the win against Lokomotiv Kuban (85-75): his huge physical presence is unmatchable by the Russian team, and he scores with ridiculous ease in the low post. He has 22 PTS, 6 FD and 18 EV in 15 minutes on the court, with 14 PTS and 3 FD in the first quarter, despite not being able to entirely play it due to the aforementioned foul troubles.
