Estudiantes, German Gabriel out for injury

Asefa Estudiantes center German Gabriel will miss the remainder of the Eurocup Last 16 due to a knee injury, but he may be ready to return in time for the quarterfinals, should his team get that far. Gabriel was helped off the court after suffering the injury in Tuesday’s Group K home win over Pepsi Caserta. He was examined on Wednesday by team physician Dr. Juan Jose Perez, who determined the injury to be a tear of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee. Gabriel will not undergo surgery and the recovery period is estimated at four-to-five weeks. The Eurocup Quarterfinals begin on March 23. Gabriel averaged 10.4 points and 4.5 rebounds in 10 Eurocup games this season.
