Brose Baskets Bamberg nab Aussie Worthington
Prima esperienza europea per il giocatore australiano
Brose Baskets Bamberg has upgraded its frontline ahead of the stretch run for a spot in the Eurocup quarterfinals by signing Australian Mark Worthington. The forward arrives from the Melbourne Tigers of the Australian League, where he ranked among the league’s best with 16.3 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Worthington (202, 26) will play in Europe for the first time, but has extensive international basketball experience, having played college basketball in the United States and for the Australian national team. He represented the Boomers at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and at the 2006 World Championships in Japan. Worthington was the NCAA Division II national Player of the Year after his final season at Metropolitan State College of Denver and translated his experience there into success back home as the Australian League Rookie of the Year in 2006 for the Sydney Kings. He has also played for the South Dragons, with whom he won the 2009 Australian League championship. Bamberg also recently released forward Eric Taylor.
