Alba Berlin brings in shooting star Lucca Staiger
L'ex NCAA torna nel paese natio
Alba Berlin strengthened its backcourt over the weekend by signing shooting guard Lucca Staiger to a two-and-a-half year contract. Staiger (194, 21) arrives from US college Iowa State University, where he was averaging 9.4 points on 42.5% three-point shooting this season in 17 games for the Cyclones. Earlier this season, he set a school record with 10 three-pointers as he scored a career-high 32 points in a road win at Drake. Staiger, who grew up in the German city Ulm, has been living in the United States for four years. However he has always returned to Germany to represent his country at the national level. Last summer Staiger played for Germany at EuroBasket 2009, averaging 5 points in six games on 57.1% three-point shooting. With Staiger's signing, guard Oskar Fassler has been loaned to Science City Jena for the remainder of the season.
