Galatasaray signs Mike Wilkinson

Galatasaray Café Crown added a proven Eurocup winner to its mix with the signing of Mike Wilkinson. The power forward played in the Eurocup title game last season with Khimki and in the ULEB Cup final in 2006 with Aris Thessaloniki. Wilkinson (204, 27) averaged 6.8 points and 4.1 rebounds over 18 minutes in 12 Eurocup games for Khimki last season. He had one of his best game with the pressure on in the Final Eight, leading his team past Valencia with 15 points, 6 rebounds and a pair of key free throws with 9.7 seconds to go. He posted 8.1 points and 4.9 boards per game in the Russian League too. Wilkinson has played his entire professional career in Europe following a standout college basketball career at the University of Wisconsin. He signed for Aris in 2005 and helped the team qualify for the Euroleague the very next season. After his lone Euroleague season, in which he averaged 12.1 points and 5.9 rebounds as Aris reached the Top 16, he moved to Khimki where he has played the last two seasons and helped the club to its first domestic title, the 2008 Russian Cup.
