EuroCup

The first event of the upcoming 2009-10 Eurocup season will be a qualifying round draw to be held on Wednesday, July 8 in Barcelona Spain. The draw, hosted by Euroleague and FIBA Europe, will begin at 13:00 local time (CET). The draw will determine pairings among 16 teams playing in a single preliminary qualifying round to decide which 8 teams among them will participate in the 32-team Eurocup regular season. VEF Riga of Latvia has replaced Hapoel Galil Gilboa of Israel, which did not submit the necessary registration papers, as a wild card in the qualifying round. The 8 qualifying-round winners will join 18 teams that qualified directly to the Eurocup as well as 6 losing teams from the Euroleague qualifying round for a total of 32 regular season teams in the 2009-10 Eurocup.
